Wycliffe Hall Summer School (click here)

This is an outstanding opportunity for Christians to grow in their knowledge of God and to be spiritually refreshed in the city where many famous Christians have studied in the past, including: John Wesley, Thomas Cranmer, Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll), George Whitefield, Dorothy L Sayers, J R R Tolkien and of course John Wycliffe himself.

C S Lewis also studied and taught in Oxford and we will be devoting considerable time to the study of his work during the week.

You can also enjoy the beautiful 'Dreaming Spires' of the Oxford University colleges, as well as a wealth of museums, theatres, restaurants and art galleries, with Blenheim Palace, the birth place of England's most famous son, Sir Winston Churchill, only a short journey away.

Amongst the speakers at this year's School is Revd Dr Michael Ward, Chaplain of Peterhouse, University of Cambridge.

A former President of the Oxford Lewis Society and resident warden of The Kilns, Lewis’s Oxford home, Dr Ward has an MA in English from Oxford and another in Theology from Cambridge.

His St Andrews University doctoral dissertation examined Lewis’s
theological and imaginative engagement with the seven heavens of medieval cosmology. He has lectured on the subject in Oxford, Cambridge and many places in
the United States, including Wheaton College, IL; Notre Dame University, IN; and Fuller
Theological Seminary, CA.

Thomas Cranmer and Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) both belonged to Wycliffe Hall. And I think, that Carroll referred to Cranmer and the Forty-Two Articles in "The Hunting of the Snark"

I'm afraid not Goetz... Wycliffe Hall did not exist when Cranmer was alive, and Dodgson was at Christ Church College in Victorian times. As for 'Snark' it's a distinct possibility!
