Susan asks about Aslan:
“Is he quite safe? I shall feel quite nervous about meeting a lion.”
“That you will deary, and make no mistake,” said Mrs. Beaver. “If there’s anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they’re either braver than most or else just silly.”
“Then, he isn’t safe?” said Lucy.
“He’s not safe, but he’s good.”
CS Lewis – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
They rather left this out of the film. :-( Not just the words, either - the film lion seems altogether too tame.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, by the way!
Why thank you, my lady...
ReplyDeleteThe book or the movie... I think I might just plump for the book!
If Aslan is good, but not safe, then that would have to mean that just because something is dangerous it isn't always bad. I had heard this quote from the book many times before, but never really thought of it exactly like this. I discovered this blog in a web search for The Father Christmas Letters, and I've really enjoyed it so far. I'm looking forward to the day when I can read some of your random older posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anna... there is lots to explore!
